Led by award-winning actor, director, writer, and producer Jay James-Moody, this series will assist you to develop and explore techniques that support your acting potential, and examine the practical work expected of actors before stepping into the spotlight.

 

This exclusive workshop isn't just about what happens on stage. We will dive into the essential homework expected of actors outside of auditions and rehearsals, experimenting with and refining your process, and working toward unlocking your unique artistic voice.

 

In our intimate group, participants will nominate a scene from a play or musical. Over the course of six weekly 2 hour workshops, our artist group will engage in a dynamic exploration of these texts week by week, with a different artist’s proposed text forming the focus of the session. 

 

Together we'll dissect the text, deciphering the author's intentions, and mastering techniques to prepare offers for your directors. In addition to this principal focus on the actor’s homework, the sessions will include open discussions and sharing of skills, experience, and expectations when it comes to the rehearsal room.

 

In a casual environment brimming with openness and curiosity, all questions are not only welcome but encouraged. Whether you're a seasoned performer or new to the stage, this series of workshops promises an enriching experience that will empower you to shine in every performance and become the kind of actor that is invaluable to supporting the vision of authors and directors.

Workshop groups will be limited to 6 participants per session.

 

Participant Suitability:

Artists must be at least 18 years.

Suitable for beginners and experienced artists to stretch their artistic muscles. 

 

Participant Acceptance:

Artists for the workshop will be curated from open submissions.

 

Cost:

$500 for full participation in six intimate sessions.

50% deposit due upon acceptance into workshop. Remaining 50% due by day of first session.
